Howdy and Welcome!

There are so many things going on this celebration it will be difficult to take them all in however we, the Nevada Day Board hopes that you and your family will have the best time ever.

Hollywood in Nevada Movies and Television was selected as the theme this year to raise the awareness of the over 600 movies that have been filmed in Nevada and the huge number of Television shows that have been and continue to be filmed in Nevada.

What'Äôs on the schedule for Saturday in addition to the Parade? Well for starters don'ÄôÄôt forget the single-jack rock drilling, a skill that is kept alive today that started years ago in the gold and silver mines hand drilling a hole in solid granite with steel and hammer! Then there is the Beard Contest on the Capital steps. Where else in the United States would the Supreme Court Justices practice their wisdom and judge a beard contest?

There is a Pinewood Derby. Yes a real Pinewood Derby for all ages! Dust off your old car and challenge your son or daughter to a race! Come to the Carson Mall and enjoy the races.

At the end of the day come to the Carson High School stadium and participate in the second annual Nevada Day Battle of the Bands-field marching competition. Yes a band field marching contest. See High School marching bands from all across the State of Nevada Elko to Pahrump!

Thank you Carson City, Reno, Dayton, Minden, Gardnerville and all of Nevada for participating in this year'ÄôÄôs celebration!
