Nevada Day Rules and Policies

Parade Entries

The Parade Rules are set forth by the Nevada Day, Inc. Board of Directors and apply to all Parade Entries.
Nevada Day Inc. has authority to subject any Parade Entrant who refuses to abide by any of the rules, to further fees, removal from the parade, and/or suspension from participating in any future Nevada Day Parades or Events.

PARADE SAFETY – Our #1 priority.

Aggressive or inappropriate behavior is cause for immediate removal, disqualification from parade activities and from participation in the next year’s events.

NO Throwing Items from a vehicle or float. This Includes throwing candy. Flying Items can injure spectators or bounce back into the road causing children to rush into the street while the parade is moving.
Any entry not respecting this rule will be FINED $250. The fine must be paid prior to applying for next year’s parade or the entry is automatically disqualified.   NO EXCEPTIONS.  Please distribute candy or giveaways hand-to-hand by walking near the spectators.

No one may step on or off a float or any motorized entry while the entry is on the parade route.  Children shall not be placed on or removed from any float or vehicle while it is moving.

There should be no more than 20 to 30 feet between each entry.  No Large Gaps, PLEASE!

**RULE – No Campaigning
The biggest complaint we receive regarding the parade is “too many political entries.” Over the years political entries have been responsible for heightened spectator tensions, extending the parade time and a multitude of trash we are forced to clean up the next day.  For these and other reasons, the Nevada Day, Inc. Board of Directors has voted this a “No Campaigning” year.

Elected Officials holding current office in Nevada may apply to be in the parade as a political entry to represent the office they hold.  They may NOT campaign for future elections on the parade route.

Candidates running in upcoming elections are encouraged to contact their political party for participation in the parade on their party float, or walking behind their party float.  There will be no passing out campaign materials or displaying campaign signs. This includes signs promoting ballot measures or voting on questions.

Each year the rules are reviewed and it may change in the future.
